Head Senior Swim Team Coach

The position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, health living, and social responsibility. To deliver the highest quality swim team by assisting the Head Coach, Associate Head Coach, and Head Age Group Coach in planning and development of a competitive swimming program that follows the standards set forth by the YMCA of the USA.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree is required. Head Senior Coach may work towards a degree while employed.
• Must be willing to fulfill all swim team responsibilities to the best of the employee’s ability.
• Must be able to take direction and use supervisor’s instruction to continually increase their knowledge and experience in competitive coaching.
• Must accept, demonstrate, and teach the YMCA Character Development Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility throughout their assigned swim team group.

Essential Functions:

• Designed to keep/get kids excited about swimming and convert swimmers to year-round team.
• Provide parent/swimmer communication through phone, email, and website.  Regular updates will be provided on a regular basis.
• Provide a safe and supportive environment for all swim team participants.
• Provide support to all swim team staff members and volunteers.
• Attend all swim team staff meetings and training opportunities as requested.
• Document daily attendance and training plans.
• Roster and retention planning for all Junior and Senior training groups.
• Volunteer for appointments with SC Swimming, USA Swimming, YMCA Swimming, ASCA or other professional groups.
