Description
The Head Softball Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, including but not limited to recruiting, scheduling, training, monitoring academic progress, promotions, fundraising and coaching team members.
Responsibilities:
- Promote the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletic program, to include adherence and enforcement of all departmental policies and procedures, as well as university, conference and NAIA rules and regulations.
- Assist in recruitment and selection of student-athletes with critical responsibility of meeting yearly recruitment and roster maintenance goals; recruit and retain exceptional student-athletes to MNU who excel academically
- Manage resources provided by budget; analyze funding needs and create budget requests; exercise authority for all expenditures related to the softball program
- Schedule and supervise practice sessions and intercollegiate contests; design and implement a sound pre-season training program; plan for all team practices to maximize time, effort, safety, and skill.
- Ability to foster relationships with alumni, friends of the university, and local business; generate additional funding to enhance operating budget
- Monitor and encourage academic progress of the student-athlete culminating in their graduation; counsel student-athletes as needed in academic, eligibility, disciplinary, and personal matters, including consulting with student services personnel and other university administrators to resolve problems.

- Ability to consistently demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external constituencies. Particularly, the ability to relate to students and families from a broad range of backgrounds, both in group situations and individually, and effectively advise students.
