Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand and agree to abide by the mission of CBU and the CBU Athletics Department.
- Instruct athletes with sound principles and expertise in skills development, training, and strategies to achieve success.
- Responsible for knowledge of game rules and Conference/NCAA regulations and implements these rules on a consistent basis.
- Adhere to all institutional, conference and NCAA by-laws and regulations.
- Oversee and plan competitive intercollegiate practices and competitions that focus on the development of the student-athletes and success of the program.
- Responsible for the academic progress and success of student-athletes.
- Provide instruction and spiritual guidance to students that will lead to positive values, acceptable behavior, and self-discipline consistent with the philosophy of athletics at CBU.
- Motivate team for maximum performance by utilizing motivational philosophies that meet the needs of the students and that are consistent with the CBU Athletic Program philosophy.
- Assigns assistant coaches’ specific duties, supervises the assignments, and completes proper evaluation at the end of season.
- Within the framework of CBU and NCAA policies, recruits and evaluates prospective student-athletes who are of the level necessary to be successful academically and athletically.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Secondary level athletic experience preferred.
- Previous coaching experience at high school or NCAA level preferred.
