Description
Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director, the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach leads and manages the physical performance of student athletes on designated teams and oversees programming and operations for the department.
Responsibilities:
- Designs and develops specific training programs to maximize the physical strength, cardiovascular conditioning, and speed of each student athlete.
- Supervises all strength and conditioning staff and provides guidance during workouts.
- Ensures safety procedures and proper use of equipment and provides training as needed.
- Develops required rehabilitative programming in coordination with the university’s athletic trainers and team physicians using the most current techniques that help reduce injury while increasing strength, power, endurance and body awareness.
- Works with coaches to develop sport-specific training programs.
- Maintains overall image, environment and appearance of training facilities and equipment.
- Documents and provides progress reports to coaches on teams and individual student athletes.
- Develops off-season training programs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education, kinesiology, exercise science or related field.
- Three years of professional strength and conditioning experience in a collegiate or professional athletics weight room.
- CPR/AED and SCCC or CSCS certification.
- Expert knowledge of the practices, principles and techniques of strength and conditioning training for student-athletes.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with students and co-workers from diverse backgrounds.
