Description
Southwestern University seeks candidates for the position of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position will oversee all aspect of the Strength and Conditioning program for the intercollegiate athletic program, and provide proper guidance and training techniques in support of university students. This is a 12-month, full-time, exempt position with benefits.
Primary Duties:
- Work with sport coaches to establish goals and plans for each team helping to ensure safe participation of all student-athletes.
- Develop systematic strength and conditioning programs for all student-athletes participating in the University’s intercollegiate athletic program to prepare them for the specific needs of their sport in order to safely compete at the highest possible level.
- Schedule and oversee the usage of the athletic weight room.
- Schedule and manage the assistant coaches and interns assigned in the strength and conditioning area.
- Maintain the strength and condition equipment and facility.
- Proficient in the usage of scheduling and programming software specific to Strength and Conditioning.
- Work directly with the Athletic Training Services to ensure safe return to play training for student-athletes.
- Participate on campus committees as requested.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Must hold a current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification.
- Possess current CPR/AED/ First Aid certification.
- Demonstrated competency in the safe and effective development and implementation of strength and conditioning activities.
- Knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
