Description
Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor, the Head Swim Coach directs and supervises the recreational level competitive swimming programs for youth ages 4 to 18 years old, leads Assistant Swim Coaches to organize swimmers and instruct in skills and techniques, stressing an atmosphere of fun and maximum participation within agency and League goals and philosophies; and works with the Parent Board to enhance the team experience and help communicate information to assist coaches, swimmers and families. Incumbent needs to be available on weekday practices and Saturday swim meets.
Essential Functions:

Oversees the actions of all assistant swim coaches assigned to practices; create work schedules for coaches using the standard set up by the Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor; work with Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor to communicate information to coaches and customers.

Supervises patrons and participants in pool and deck area.

Promotes and enforces safety procedures; renders care in the most current American Red Cross techniques in water safety, lifeguarding, first aide, and CPR/AED as needed.

Works with Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor and the Parent Board to plan seasons, including practice times.

Attends monthly Parent Board meetings.

Mediates problems as they arise from parents, swimmers, and coaches; communications issues, questions, and concerns from staff and customers.

Maintains seeding for swim meets. Ensures accurate records of swim meet results for all swimmers are maintained.
Qualifications:
- Possession of an American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Training Certification, with Title 22 Certification, CPR/AED/First Aide and Administering Emergency Oxygen certification required.
- Possession of a valid ARC Water Safety Instructor Certification (preferred)
- Head Swim Coaches must have at least two (2) summers experience with similar programs, preferably as an experienced swimmer or as an assistant coach.
