Description
Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Swim Team Coach to lead our swim team program. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to fostering a positive and competitive environment, developing swimmers’ skills, and promoting a love for swimming among all team members. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a willingness to teach advanced level swim lessons to swim team members.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for all age groups and skill levels, ensuring the program aligns with the club’s goals and values.
- Conduct regular swim practices, providing instruction on technique, conditioning, and racing strategies.
- Foster a supportive and motivating environment for swimmers to achieve personal and team goals.
- Plan, organize, and oversee swim meets, including inter-club competitions and Candy Meets.
- Evaluate swimmers’ progress, provide feedback, and individualized coaching to enhance performance.
- Collaborate with the Youth and Aquatics Program Manager to schedule practices, meets, and events.
- Ensure the safety of all participants by maintaining a vigilant and proactive approach to pool safety and emergency procedures.
- Mentor and supervise assistant coaches, providing guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Assist Youth and Aquatics Program Manager in overseeing the junior coaches both at practice and swim meets, providing leadership advice and guidance.
- Maintain open and effective communication with swimmers, parents, and club management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience coaching competitive swimming, preferably at a club or high school level.
- USA Swimming Coach Certification.
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR/AED Certification.
- Strong knowledge of competitive swimming techniques, training methods, and racing strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate swimmers of all ages and skill levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team and manage assistant coaches.
