Description
The Head Coach is responsible for developing competitive swimmers at all levels of the program (middle and high school). Other duties include developing a regular practice schedule, recruiting lower-level head and assistant coaches as needed, overseeing Elementary School swim lessons during the school year, and working with the Athletic Department to develop a competitive program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tracks daily attendance and communicates absences to student-athletes and parents.
- Tracks the eligibility of student-athletes according to Mid-Pacific, ILH, and HHSAA guidelines.
- Properly takes care of and stores all equipment on a daily basis, and reports any broken or unsafe equipment to the Athletic Director.
- Issues and collects team uniforms, parkas, suits, caps, etc.
- Monitors academic achievement for athletes to ensure academics are kept in focus.
- Orders (with approval) all equipment needed for the season.
- Maintains all equipment and oversees repair and/or replacement as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum requirements include holding valid CPR/First Aid/AED certification, as well as a professional rescuer lifeguarding certificate.
- To perform this job successfully, the individual must be an excellent swimmer and be able to perform life-saving techniques. They must also have good communication skills and be able to maintain a safe swimming environment.
- The ideal candidate should have extensive experience as a positive and motivating head coach and must possess excellent communication skills.
