Description
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator / Director and in accordance with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Head Swim Team Coach is responsible for coaching swim teams according to YMCA of the USA program standards, principles, and by-laws for any league to which the teams belong.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the growth and development of the Swim Team.
- Create a positive learning environment through personal enthusiasm and building team spirit.
- Be safety-conscious, maintain order and enforce rules during practices and meets to ensure swimmer safety and respect.
- Keep accurate records of attendance and skills and times achieved by each swimmer.
- Provide each student with written records of progress and recognition of improvement.
- Hold coaches meetings focused on staff and volunteer development and program organization
- Coach practices and Swim Meets.
- Communicate effectively with parents about practice and meet schedules and other details.
- Responsible for swim team data entry into team and meet manager data system.
- Coordinate program evaluation process.
- Coordinate parent/volunteer involvement in the program.
- Coordinate Annual Swim Team Community Support Campaign.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- At least 3 years experience with Swim Teams/Swim Lessons, 2 of which in a coaching capacity.
- Prior to first shift, to be renewed annually:
- Professional Level CPR
- First Aid.
- Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
- Oxygen Administration.
- Must complete the following trainings before working first shift and are to be renewed annually: Blood Borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention.
- Must complete YMCA of Greater Charlotte New Staff Connection prior to employment.
- Must complete I Create Loyalty Training within 30 days of hire.
- Current YMCA Lifeguard certification within 60 days of hire.
- Obtain YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification within 60 days of hire.
