Description
The Head Varsity Softball Coach will work under the direction of the Director of Athletics creating a competitive program that models Quaker principles through sportsmanship.
Major Responsibilities:
- Actively support the academic and personal growth and success of student-athletes.
- Recruit and evaluate Assistant Coaches.
- Oversee all practices and games.
- Develop regular communication practices with parents, the athletic department and students.
- Manage team social media accounts.
- Cultivate an inclusive team culture committed to a high level of competition, sportsmanship, relationship building and integrity.
- Create a program philosophy and support middle school and JV coaches to ensure consistency of skill development and approach at all levels.
- Work with the athletic department to coordinate team practices.
- Coordinate a robust daily practice plan (in person and virtually) that develops skill sets and values that align with Moses Brown School's mission and aid in building a competitive program.
Requirements:
- A coaching philosophy centered on mutual respect, positive communication, and a commitment to equity, inclusiveness, relationship-building and care for young people.
- Knowledge of current softball techniques, rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of RIIL rules and regulations or the ability to become proficient on RIIL rules and regulations.
- Experience developing game strategy.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students and parents.
- Ability to travel regionally and work evenings and weekends as needed.
