Description
Job Goal:
To foster the quest for excellence by creating an educational and competitive experience for student-athletes within an atmosphere of sportsmanship and developing individual and team potential by promoting high standards of competence, character, inclusivity, respect, and citizenship.
Essential Functions:
- Energetic, athletic, and willing to work with students in a positive leading role.
- Develop drill and practice activities that teach and enhance individual/team skill development necessary for achievement in the activity.
- Coordinates all aspects of the activity such as, but not limited to, practices and games.
- Assumes responsibility for the regulations under MSHSAA and Title IX.
- Maintain responsibility for maintenance and proper utilization of facilities.
- Ability to work successfully with high school students, parents, school staff, and the public.
- Assists in selecting, assigning, and evaluating all activity personnel for the activity.
- Plan and enforce appropriate health and safety, conduct, and general welfare of students.
- Maintains high standards of student conduct.
- Inventories and maintains equipment.
- Knowledge of emergency first aid procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required or at least 60 hours of college credit and at least 2 years of experience as an MSHSAA-approved assistant coach.
- Working with school-aged children is strongly desired.
