Description
JOB GOAL:
To organize and conduct a learning program which enables students to improve physical fitness, sportsmanship, and coordination and develop in the athlete the rules and skills in each particular sport.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Valid, current Nebraska teaching certificate or Nebraska Supervisory Certificate preferred.
- Previous coaching experience preferred.
- First aid and CPR training desired.
- Knowledge of NSAA rules and regulations.
- Ability to articulate a comprehensive vision for a program which encompasses the development of skills, citizenship, and character.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teaches basic, fundamental skills; develops advanced skills.
- Develops positive personality traits in students, such as self-esteem, confidence, punctuality and loyalty.
- Instills character in students; a sense of fair play and a positive attitude toward winning and losing.
- Provides opportunities that will allow the program to serve as a positive learning environment where students may cope with challenges and handle situations similar to those encountered under conditions prevailing in the contemporary world.
- Improves the physical condition of students.
- Follows an inclusive philosophy, allowing each student to participate, develop and learn.
- Obeys and respects decisions of referees and officials.
- Sets an example of exemplary behavior at all times.
- Cooperates with teaching staff; observes eligibility requirements for participating students.
