Description
Under the direction of the V.P. Student & Administrative Services and Dean of Student Services, provide academic instruction; plan, organize, direct and monitor all activities of the intercollegiate Women’s Volleyball (Court and Beach) program including developing a full schedule for both non-traditional and traditional seasons, recruitment, conditioning and training of the student athletes; and is responsible for student athlete behavior/conduct and academic eligibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all regulations, rules, procedures, and policies for athletic programs as established by the NCAA, the CCCAA, and the Golden Valley Conference
- Organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate the intercollegiate volleyball program
- Determine student eligibility for athletic program
- Determine program goals, objectives and related activities
- Oversee the strength and conditioning program for the sport both in-season and out-of-season
- Coordinate the identification and recruitment of eligible individuals by recruiting actively in high schools in the area and contiguous districts. This recruitment process includes: high school visitations, individual contacts with the athlete and parents, and home visits; preparing follow-up correspondence and telephone contact; facilitate District visitation by prospective athletes; and assisting student-athletes by referring them to student employment, financial aid, orientation, counseling, assessment and registration
- Stay abreast of current trends and information in the field
- Attend coaching clinics, seminars, trainings, and conferences.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in coaching college level volleyball.
- Experience with California community colleges (California Education Code and Title 5 Regulations).
- Experience with participatory governance structures.
- Experience with accreditation expectations (ACCJC Eligibility Requirements and Standards).
