Under the general direction of the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach is responsible for recruiting, on the floor or field coaching during practices and games and fundraising. The Head Coach must have the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, fellow coaches, and tournament directors; is able to effectively communicate with potential recruits and their parents regarding the academic programs, student services, and athletic programs offered at Schenectady County Community College; is responsible for submitting year-end reports, recommendations, and budget requests relative to his/her sport each year; is required to travel with the team to away games that may include evening and weekends.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Behave in a professional manner at all times; serving as an agent of the College and the Student Government Association.
Directly supervise and control his/her athletes at all practices and home/away matches.
Accompany the team to all away contests by riding with the team on the team bus.
Read, know and understand the Mohawk Valley Conference Guidelines.
Read and understand all game competition rules.
Lead any fundraising activities that are planned for following all rules of the College and the SCCC Student Government Association Clubs and Organization Manual.
Understand and enforce the SCCC Student Code of Conduct; understanding all expectations of all students at SCCC whether on campus or off as well as how infractions will be adjudicated.
Arrange for the systematic return of all athletic equipment issued to student-athletes
Preparing a budget in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
Read, know and understand the SCCC Handbook with specific understanding of the programs of study offered at SCCC to assist with recruitment efforts.
Evaluate the past season as to record, recruitment, college support and other related matters.
Monitor the academic progress of team members and maintain contact with the academic advisor for athletics to assure proper academic progress, attitude and follow through for academic success.
Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments and submit to Athletic Director.
Willingness to learn and become familiar with the academic programs, student services, and athletic programs offered at Schenectady County Community College.
Has the ability to effectively communicate with students, recruits, parents, fellow coaches and tournament directors.
