Description
The Head Coach is responsible for coaching, directing and executing all aspects of an NCAA Division II program, and operating the program with integrity and in a welcoming manner that complies with NCAA, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, Athletics Department and University rules and regulations. The Head Coach will cooperate and work harmoniously within the athletics department, and the campus community, as appropriate, in carrying out the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletic program.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for administering all aspects of the sport program including but not limited to: quality coaching and instruction; compliance; recruiting; promoting/fundraising; team travel arrangements; maintaining equipment; community service initiatives; supervising assistants; monitoring academic progress of student-athletes; and fulfilling other such duties as they arise or as assigned.
- Required to be thoroughly familiar with and comply with all University, Department, NCAA, and CACC policies, rules and regulations, and disseminate such information to assistant coaches and student-athletes, as appropriate.
- Collaborate with and provide all necessary information to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and ensure all NCAA and CACC rules and regulations are adhered to. This includes annual and on time completion of the NCAA Recruiting certification test.
- Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards student-athletes, fans, parents, officials, spectators and community.
- Serve as ambassador at University events and Open Houses.
- Foster a healthy environment for student-athletes while promoting sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
- Responsible for assisting in the preparation of, and adhering to, deadlines and specific dates for the timely completion of all forms and related materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to follow university policies and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community.
- Proficient with computer software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- NCAA sport rules and regulations
- Game day management and best practices
- Must have sound independent judgment and ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, analytical, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.
