Description
The Head Coach reports to the Director of Athletics. The Head Coach is responsible for the day to day execution & planning of the DI Women’s Rugby Program. This program must operate within the framework of the NCAA and NIRA and work in conjunction with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the University and the Athletics Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhering and knowing all NCAA, MAAC, NIRA, USA Rugby and University rules and regulations and attending annually the recruiting compliance meeting held by our Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance in order to recruit off-campus.
- Oversee and participate in the recruitment of quality student-athletes to maintain roster numbers (squad size between 45-50). Recruit acceptable student-athletes who will be good representatives and citizens who will graduate from the University.
- Ensure the academic progress of all student-athletes through interaction with the student, the Academic Support personnel, and the Faculty Athletics Representative.
- Act as the University representative in public, including press, TV, radio interviews, news conferences, and speaking engagements.
- Work in collaboration with Sports Medicine and Strength and Condition to oversee the student athlete’s health and safety along with growth and development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Successful experience as a coach and/or player desired, preferably at the collegiate level.
