Description
Dakota State University is seeking candidates for a Head Women’s Softball Coach. This is a twelve-month, benefit eligible position. The purpose of this position is to direct all aspects of the softball program and enhance the direction of the Dakota State University Athletic Department.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes.
- Supervise assistant coaches, including hiring, training, and evaluating assistant and student coaches.
- Prepare game and practice plans.
- Develop and grow the skills of players through effective coaching.
- Manage softball budgets.
- Coordinate annual summer camps, recruitment trips, and on-campus recruitment events.
- Communicate and collaborate with departments across campus to ensure student-athlete success.
- Monitor academic progress of the team and individual student-athletes.
- Mentor student athletes through academic and athletic challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree is preferred.
- Three years of previous experience coaching and recruiting at the collegiate level is preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of NAIA rules is preferred.
- Experience with athletic fundraising is preferred.
- Ability to work evening and weekends and travel as required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Knowledge and skill to evaluate and assess student-athletes’ skills and abilities in softball.
- Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop student athletes.
