Description
The Head coach of Women's Volleyball will develop and administer all aspects of the Luther College women’s volleyball program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes.
- Directs and provides the planning, organizing and coaching of the women’s volleyball program.
- Establishes future meet/travel schedules with the Director of Athletics.
- Counsels team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; consults with college administration and faculty.
- Responsible for the hiring of assistant coaches and student managers.
- Manages the operating budget for the women’s volleyball program.
- Plans for the successful recruitment of potential volleyball student-athletes.
- Implements institutional and departmental plans to foster and support inclusion and belonging within the athletics program, in general, and the volleyball program, in particular.
- Studies, evaluates and implements innovations in volleyball strategy and equipment.
- Works alongside the Associate AD, wrestling coaches, and basketball coaches to schedule practices and home events in the Gerdin Fieldhouse. .
- Promotes the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program to include adhering to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the American Rivers Conference and NCAA Division III.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
- Education: A Master’s Degree is preferred or a Bachelor’s Degree and training and work experience that equates to an advanced degree is required.
- Experience: Previous experience recruiting and coaching volleyball at the collegiate level is desired.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college.
