QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Alabama teaching certificate.
- Previous coaching experience and experience in the sport to be coached.
- Employment in the school system preferred.
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Knowledge of the Board’s athletics policies and procedures, school rules, and state and/or regional athletic association rules.
- Knowledge of student growth and development applicable to the grade level assigned.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and peers.
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
- Knowledge of first aid and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of coaching principles and knowledge of the assigned sport.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Participate in professional learning activities in the area of coaching
- Collaborate with colleagues.
- Learn and utilize new strategies and techniques
- Give attention to student athletes’ grades, school conduct, and overall well-being.
- Assists athletes in their post-secondary education selections.
