Description
Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC), a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), seeks a dynamic and dedicated Head Wrestling Coach to lead and grow its men’s and women’s wrestling programs. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering academic success, athletic excellence, personal development, and community engagement in alignment with the College’s mission and the values of the P&HCC Athletics Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the intercollegiate wrestling program (practice, competition, travel, recruitment, etc.)
- Recruit and retain student-athletes who demonstrate potential for academic and athletic success.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and life skills development for student-athletes.
- Monitor academic progress and ensure eligibility in accordance with NJCAA, Region 10, and P&HCC policies.
- Foster a culture of sportsmanship, integrity, and respect on and off the mat.
- Manage program budget and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Coordinate team travel, scheduling, equipment, and facility use.
- Promote the wrestling program through community involvement, camps, and outreach.
- Collaborate with athletic trainers, academic advisors, and College administration to support student success.
- Ensure compliance with all institutional, regional, and national athletic regulations.
Qualifications:
- Prior wrestling coaching experience (high school, club, or collegiate level).
- Knowledge of NJCAA rules and eligibility guidelines (or willingness to learn).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to recruit and relate effectively to diverse student populations.
