Description
The Head Wrestling Coach will lead the wrestling program in and out of the wrestling facility. Coaches must demonstrate knowledge of the sport, basic coaching principles, and an understanding of the OSSAA bylaws. They must also be ambassadors for the school and program.
Essential coaching duties include:
- Practice plans.
- Submitting rosters to the Athletic Department.
- Maintaining student-athlete safety and supervision.
- Assisting the Athletic Department with scheduling opponents.
- Maintaining inventories of equipment and uniforms.
- Fundraising and keeping accurate records to work with the media to promote the success of the team.
Qualifications:
- Hold high ethical and professional standards.
- Be an appropriate role model for high school student-athletes.
- Hold high expectations and accountability academically and behaviorally for all student-athletes and coaching staff.
- Ability to develop, articulate, and implement a vision for the program.
- Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously in an educationally based, school-wide athletic program.
- Experience leading a comprehensive high school athletic program preferred.
- Be relationship/process oriented.
- Understand and provide information regarding eligibility, the tryout process, the cut process, and all other team-related information, including lettering, team rules, etc.
- Be creative and involved in all fundraising for the program.
- Communicate effectively with ALL stakeholders.
