Description
The role of the Instructor, Health and Physical Education (Part-Time) is to provide knowledge in his/her field of expertise and to promote various student-centered learning activities that will stimulate an interest in critical thinking and a desire for life-long learning. Various teaching strategies, learning styles and delivery methods including new technology systems will be utilized to reach this goal.
Examples of Duties:
- Prepare, teach and evaluate assigned instructional courses in the classroom and/or online.
- Develop supplemental teaching materials as appropriate to augment courses.
- Implement teaching strategies and integrates technology in instructional delivery methods, as appropriate.
- Maintain a conducive and hazard-free learning environment and provides safety and supervision in the classroom/lab.
- Arrive to class early and is prepared.
- Provide students with a syllabus, based on the template provided by the supervisor, which includes instructor contact information and grading policies and adheres to the syllabus.
- Maintain accurate, updated records of students' attendance and performance and keeps students advised of their progress.
- Respond to student emails and/or voicemails in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the community college system and a commitment to COA's mission.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to use a computer efficiently, especially standard office software.
- Ability to demonstrate organizational and time management skills.
