Description
Each teacher is assigned yearly to a position which is under the direct supervision of an administrator to whom he/she is immediately responsible for all aspects of his/her professional behavior. The primary responsibility of all other personnel is to support the instructional efforts of District teaching personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans a health/physical education program to promote development of student's health/physical attributes and social skills.
- Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
- Teaches physical education/health classes for handicapped pupils as necessary.
- Instructs individuals or groups in beginning or advanced calisthenics, gymnastics, or corrective exercises, determining type and level of difficulty of exercises, corrections needed, and prescribed movements.
- Teaches and demonstrates use of gymnastic and training apparatus such as trampolines and weights.
- Confers with students, parents, and counselor to resolve student problems.
- Selects, stores, orders, issues, and inventories equipment, materials, and supplies used in the health/physical education program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from an accredited college or university; and a valid Montana teaching certificate with an endorsement in health and physical education. (For elementary Physical Education an endorsement in Elementary Curriculum is acceptable).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, parents, and the general public.
