Description
The After School Athletics Coach is responsible for facilitating and coordinating activities related to the assigned athletic sport. The After School Athletics Coach is also responsible for coaching, managing and enforcing safety protocols for students participating in the sport.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience coaching in a similar sport strongly preferred.
- Must possess teaching and coaching techniques appropriate to the sport assigned.
- First Aid, CPR, AED and Concussion training required. (High School only: MIAA “Fundamentals of Coaching,” and “Sport Specific” certification if applicable.)
- Possession of valid Driver’s License, if transporting students.
- Must be available to attend activities, practices, games, and meetings outside of school hours as necessary.
- Must be dependable and reliable.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains current First-Aid, CPR, and Concussion training, if required by the particular sport, or based on availability of coaches at the activity site;
- Keeps up to date with any necessary training for assigned sport;
- Attends regular coach meetings organized by the After School Athletics Coordinator or Athletic Director at Atlantis to discuss student eligibility, practice schedules, practice locations, documentation, equipment needs, and any general concerns or questions;
- Creates an environment where students are supported and encouraged to participate in the athletics program;
- Adheres to practice schedules, student practice rules and medical compliance as required by the league;
- Strictly upholds and enforces standards and rules of athletic program, especially safety rules and standards;
- Sets appropriate boundaries for students based on school rules.
