Description
Kenowa Hills has an extensive sports program with close to 30 different varsity sports offered. Athletics complement the academic programs with the belief that character attributes such as hard work and teamwork learned through athletics are a great enhancement to the academic programs. Kenowa Hills joins the newly formed River Cities Alliance beginning this fall.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. An advanced degree Graduate courses in the organization and administration of athletic programs preferred.
- Five (5) years of successful teaching AND (3) three years of successful head coaching.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate AND administrator certificate issued by the Michigan Department of Education. Candidates lacking an administrative certificate will be considered if they are on track to obtain one by June 30, 2025. Candidates lacking previous administrative position(s) should be able to cite highly successful leadership roles (such as a department, grade level, or school improvement chair positions).
- Evidence of active participation and leadership in professional and athletic organizations.
- Demonstrated success in curriculum development, improvement of the athletic program, and working harmoniously with students, parents, teachers, and the school community.
- Required knowledge of skills and abilities related to diversity, equity, and cultural competence.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote participation in interscholastic athletics and athletic clubs.
- Promote a positive attitude among athletes and coaches.
- Promote sportsmanship among athletes, coaches and spectators.
- Promote in-school programs to enhance athletics, school spirit and character.
- Provide professional development to coaches in areas outside their respective sports (for example, weight training).
- Serve as School Representative to Leagues, Athletic Booster Club and School Community.
- Attend Athletic Booster Club meetings, working alongside the Booster Club to support its mission.
- Lead interview teams to recommend the hiring of coaches.
- Conduct annual written evaluations of coaches, implementing individual improvement plans where needed.
- Supervise or provide supervision of all home athletic contests and away events as needed.
- Coordinate the hiring of game personnel.
