Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Reflect the purpose and mission of the school, which is to honor Christ in every class and every activity, help students know God, achieve academic excellence, discover their purpose, and make a difference.
- Create engaging PE/Health lessons with a biblical worldview aligned with the Illinois State Standards.
- Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities. Comply with the Statement of Faith, Educational Philosophy and Objectives, the Christian Role Model Expectations.
- Review the employee, staff relations, and parent handbooks, and be committed to upholding them.
- Follow school procedures and policies that the Employer sets in administrative and educational matters. The teacher is responsible for ensuring these policies and procedures are carried out.
- Adhere to and fulfill all requirements and duties with regard to accreditation procedures and assignments, including, but not limited to, developing and updating scope and sequence and curriculum manuals, and accreditation documentation requirements, including collection and documentation.
- Maintain and supervise student safety in the gym and locker room areas.
Key Competencies:
- Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith.
- Be a "born-again" Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior (John 3:3, 1 Peter 1:23).
- Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and action toward others. This includes being committed to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct.
- Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose fundamental beliefs agree with this school's Statement of Faith (Hebrews 10:25).
- Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.”
- Must possess at least a bachelor's degree in physical education and health with a State of Illinois HS licensure. Graduate degrees are desirable.
