Description
Caprock Academy is seeking a Hockey JV Head Coach for the 2024-2025 school year.. Caprock Academy is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Colorado Charter School Institute and utilizes the timeless principles of classically oriented education.
Essential Duties:
- Develop and implement procedures for ensuring open communication with parents and athletes.
- Establish direction and expectations for all program participants.
- Support the student athlete as a whole and assist with academic needs throughout the season. Assist in supporting the student athlete with information concerning scholarships, financial aid, college recruitment, etc.
- Establish supervision responsibilities for practice, games, team trips, and locker rooms.
- Develop and implement individual/team training plans by the day, week, month, and year as appropriate.
- Monitor athlete attendance/behavior/academic status.
- Be responsible for, understand, adhere to, enforce, and implement district, school, and athletic policies along with CHSAA By-Laws. Follow guidelines for communication and behavior in the Family Handbook and the Athletics and Activities Handbook regarding: Eligibility at Caprock Prioritizing academics Partnering with families Communicating with tact Building strong young people through example.
- Communicate with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Athletic Operation. Coordinator about student athlete needs, incidents, and all concerns related to the program.
- Assist in developing a schedule, fund raisers, camps, awards banquets, etc. that includes off-season tasks.
- Direct and supervise instructional and conditioning camps throughout the year.
Qualifications:
- Previous successful teaching, coaching and/or sport participation experience preferred.
- Ability to organize and develop a high school ice hockey program.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of ice hockey and a willingness to examine new theories and procedures.
- Possess or have the ability to acquire a valid Colorado Coaching Certificate.
- Strong communication and organizational skills including the ability to mediate arguments and give constructive criticism.
- Successfully pass the CHSAA Coaches Test, acquire CHSAA coaching registration and complete a concussion course per State Legislation and CHSAA By-Laws.
- CPR & AED Certification required.
