Description
Under the supervision of the East Grand Rapids High School (EGRHS) Athletic Director and the head boys soccer coach, the junior varsity boys soccer coach is responsible for the duties assigned by the head boys soccer coach. The coach will develop individual and team skills and continue to build upon the “Tradition of Excellence” of the East Grand Rapids athletic program. The coach will work in collaboration with the head boys soccer coach to build fundamental skills and prepare athletes for competition.
Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively communicate and implement a program that fulfills the role of interscholastic athletics in a high school setting.
- Ability to lead by example and develop professional, yet meaningful relationships with all stakeholders.
- Willingness to implement and sustain a culture of success and accountability that places student development and sportsmanship at the forefront of the program.
- Willingness and commitment to include equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices.
- Ability to work cooperatively with players, parents, boosters, fans, and the media.
- Ability to plan and implement practices that build fundamental skills, and adapt practices and drills to fit the differing levels of ability of student athletes and teams.
- Ability to encourage student athletes to participate in soccer, and advocate for continued growth of the program throughout the community.
- Willingness to work cooperatively with strength and conditioning coaches to implement in-season training program.
- Willingness to encourage student athletes to participate in multiple sports/extracurricular activities.
- Experience in providing direct supervision of student athletes.
- Capability to maintain the inventory and storage of equipment and the care of facilities.
- Willingness to adhere to the processes and procedures as outlined in the East Grand Rapids Coaches handbook.
- High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.).
