Description
This position will be responsible for all aspects of lab management, operations, equipment assessment, safety training, and the oversight of community testing and will collaborate with campus faculty and staff and external organizations to ensure effective operations.
Primary Duties:
- Daily management and operation of the Exercise Science labs. This includes purchasing, installation, and management of day-to-day functioning.
- Coordinate the maintenance, calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment.
- Serve as the Department Emergency Coordinator (DEC) for Movement Science.
- Develop, schedule, document, and execute safe testing utilizing specialized equipment within the Exercise Science labs for GVSU and surrounding communities.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. This could include experience with working directly with marginalized populations, engagement with community-based social justice work, or other evidence of commitment to DEI.
- Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelors’ degree in Exercise Science or closely related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect, empathy, and cultural humility.
- A strong sense of personal initiative and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- The ability to problem-solve and multi-task in a multifaceted teaching and learning environment.
