Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all campers are placed in the appropriate level group by evaluating and grading the assigned campers.
- Assist in the monitoring and safety of the participants.
- Lead the student assistant coaches.
- Assist in the tennis camp/clinics by reinforcing positive attitudes and tennis techniques.
- Assist with teaching skills and techniques along the philosophies of UH tennis coaching staff.
- Promote and foster a positive environment, appropriate behavior and sportsmanship by all participants and employees.
- Know, recognize and comply with the laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University of Hawai‘i and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if there is reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students, or others, have occurred or will occur.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five-years professional experience coaching all tennis levels.
- Experience playing or coaching tennis at the collegiate level.
- Understanding of the philosophy of the UH tennis coaching staff.
- Ability to teach in a group and individual tennis skills and techniques according to this philosophy; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to coach and give skilled instruction to all tennis levels and ages.
