Description
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, preferably with a specialization in Physical and Health Education or related field.
- Prior experience teaching Physical Education in a lower school setting, preferable in an independent school (minimum 3 years).
- Teaching credential preferred.
- Ability to articulate the Mission and Vision of the school.
- Evidence and commitment to a collaborative approach with a team of talented educators.
- Ability to take direction, provide feedback and execute plans accordingly.
- Desire to provide inspirational learning experiences for students where health and fitness are concerned.
- Create an environment that fosters a growth mindset for students.
- Ability to mentor and coach students in assigned coaching sport.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and teach Physical Education classes to students in Preschool-Grade 5 (as assigned) with a focus on overall developmentally appropriate skill development and fitness.
- Support the social-emotional development of students with a focus on teamwork, collaboration, sportspersonship, problem solving and conflict resolution
- Work in partnership with faculty, parents and administration as an advocate for student success.
- Exercise proactive class management within an atmosphere of respect and community following the Responsive Classroom approach.
- Follow academic reporting and other school protocols as applicable.
- Attend and participate in regular faculty meetings and interdisciplinary collaborations.
