Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coaches and instructs swimmers in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared practices and workouts accordingly.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with swimmers and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourage parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
- Conveys information on the swim team, aquatics programs and schedules.
- Attends practices and swim meets as required.
- Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, swim meet reports, etc.).
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Organizes and puts away needed swim team equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
- Train and supervise Junior Swim Coaches as assigned, if necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age of 18.
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
- USA Swim Coach certifications.
- Current Lifeguard Training Certification or Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
- Knowledge of the competitive strokes and techniques, competitive swimming and general water safety.
- Knowledgeable in Team Unify, Meet Manager, Team Manager
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
