Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach

Skagit Valley College (SVC) is accepting applications for a part-time Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach with potential for full-time additional student services responsibilities available to fit the experience and qualification of the candidate. This position works with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Athletic Commissioners and campus departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in teaching basketball techniques and skills at a level appropriate for collegiate competition.
• Assist the Men's Basketball program, conducting the program in accordance with the NWAC and college rules and regulations.
• Serve as a role model to assist the team members in developing and displaying appropriate behavior and sportsmanship expected of athletic teams and individuals representing SVC.
• Promote SVC athletic programs in our community college district.
• Collaborate with Athletic staff to foster partnerships between Men's Basketball and local and campus communities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Coaching, or related Athletics field.
• Experience recruiting athletes.
• Competency and experience working in a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, gender and racial/ethnic backgrounds and those with physical, emotional and or learning disabilities.
• Experience working closely with students to achieve their educational goals.
