Description
The Men’s Head Basketball Coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for the organization and administration of all phases of the MSU Men’s Basketball Program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administering coaching strategies, skill analysis and development.
- Planning, organizing, and conducting all practices.
- Developing training schedules and a comprehensive conditioning program.
- Developing a comprehensive recruiting program for both in-state and out-of-state student athletes.
- Scouting and analyzing opponents and designing game plans.
- Hiring, supervising, and evaluating the coaching staff and support personnel.
- Managing scheduling and arrangements for team travel, including transportation, accommodations, and meals.
- Managing scheduling and arrangements of practice facilities and practice times in collaboration with Internal Operations and Facilities Management teams.
- Managing the Basketball and 6th Man Club budgets, including scholarship allotments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum 7 years of collegiate coaching experience.
- Record of successful men’s basketball coaching and recruiting at a competitive intercollegiate level, including demonstrated ability in such areas as: scouting, in-game coaching strategies, skills analysis, player and leadership development.
- Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete success including monitoring academic programs, nutrition, strength and conditioning program and student-athlete conduct.
- Experience in budget management.
