Description
This position is in addition to a teacher’s regularly assigned duties at his/her school. The teacher who serves as athletic director should be well versed in using a variety of methods to help other coaches prepare students for secondary sports competition in middle school. The middle school athletic director will model high expectations for sportsmanship, academic achievement and collaboration conducive to overall student success.
Qualifications:
- Serving as a licensed teacher in the Mooresville Graded Schools
- Successful teaching and coaching experience.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Considerable knowledge of NCHSAA policies.
- Preferred - Commercial Driver’s License.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides direction and guidance for the athletic program at Mooresville Graded middle schools in alignment with the vision and mission of the school and in compliance with applicable local, state and federal law, policies and/ or regulations.
- Ensures that students are provided an equal opportunity to participate and thrive the athletic program.
- Coordinates with coaches about the scheduling of games and practices.
- Serves as the liaison between the school’s athletic program and other middle school athletic programs.
- Collaborates with conferences and leagues about scheduling issues.
- Coordinates with league officials about schedules including postseason play.
- Determines the time allocated for a field, court, or weight room in compliance with safety protocols and best practices.
- Collaborates with coaches and the athletic department to schedule sports competitions or trips.
- Coordinates game official and umpire schedules as well as budgeting the officiants stipends.
