Description
The Middle School Football Coach is responsible for organizing, developing, and coaching the middle school football team. This position will focus on teaching the fundamentals of football, promoting sportsmanship, ensuring student-athletes’ safety, and fostering a positive team culture. The coach will work closely with the athletic department, school staff, and parents to ensure a successful and enriching experience for the athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach fundamental football skills, including offensive and defensive strategies, conditioning, and teamwork.
- Plan and lead practice sessions, ensuring all athletes receive appropriate training and skill development.
- Develop game strategies, set goals for the team, and assess player performance.
- Provide individualized feedback to athletes to help them improve their skills.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment for athletes to grow both athletically and personally.
- Organize and manage team schedules, including practices, games, and tournaments.
- Coordinate with other coaches and the athletic department for scheduling and logistics.
- Maintain accurate player attendance records and ensure compliance with all league and school rules.
- Establish and enforce team rules, discipline procedures, and expectations for behavior.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; college degree in a related field (physical education, sports management, etc.) preferred.
- Previous experience coaching football at the middle school or high school level.
- Strong understanding of football fundamentals and strategies.
- Ability to teach and motivate middle school-aged students.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid required (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of Vermont state regulations and league rules for middle school athletics.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
