Description
The Middle School Football Coach is responsible for developing and managing all aspects of the football program for student-athletes. This includes teaching fundamental skills, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, ensuring safety, and fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. The coach will work closely with school staff, parents, and the athletic department to support student growth on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and conduct regular practices that focus on skill development, game strategy, and physical conditioning.
- Instruct student-athletes in the rules, techniques, and safety of football.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes effort, respect, discipline, and academic accountability.
- Supervise student-athletes during all team activities, including practices, games, travel, and team meetings.
- Collaborate with assistant coaches, trainers, and school staff to support student well-being.
- Communicate effectively with parents, administration, and league officials.
- Ensure compliance with school, district, and league policies, including eligibility, sportsmanship, and safety guidelines.
- Maintain equipment inventory and report needs or damages.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred).
- Previous coaching or playing experience in football (middle or high school level preferred).
- Knowledge of football rules, strategies, and safety practices.
- CPR, First Aid, and concussion training certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for middle school students.
