Description
The Tampa Bay Rays are seeking a driven individual with movement expertise and baseball knowledge to join our minor league Strength & Conditioning staff at our AAA affiliate in Durham, NC. This full-time role will contribute to our departmental goals to optimize physical preparation, build resilience, and minimize injury risk. The individual will work as part of an interdisciplinary team of professionals including field staff, medical, nutrition, mental health and performance, and performance science.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and execute Rays strength and conditioning programming with the AAA Durham Bulls team, with an astute ability to tailor program needs to individual athlete demands.
- Conduct organizational physical assessments at various checkpoints pre-, mid-, and post-season.
- Facilitate initiatives from, and collaborate effectively with, various members of the health and performance team, including but not limited to athletic training, performance science, nutrition, mental health and performance, and our team physicians.
- Communicate regularly with the coaching staff, leadership, and department staff.
- Utilize various technologies in both assessments and regular in-season programming.
- Demonstrate empathy and adaptability, working with athletes from various backgrounds and English language proficiency.
- Assist with testing and assessments throughout the course of the season.
Qualifications:
- A commitment to upholding trust, empathy, humility, and respect at all times.
- Current certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) licensure and active NSCA RSCC designation.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a high-performance environment, including collegiate or elite level sports.
- Demonstrated understanding of the physical demands within baseball; explicit baseball experience highly preferred.
- Familiarity with workload management systems.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays in line with the baseball schedule.
