Description
Under general supervision, the Physical Education Teacher instructs students from grades K through 8 in the principles and practices of physical education. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, monitoring, and assessing a comprehensive physical education curriculum aimed at promoting physical fitness, enhancing motor skills, and fostering healthy lifestyles among all students, with a focus on cultural awareness.
Essential Functions:
- Develops lesson plans and prepares courses which are appropriate to the needs, experience, and knowledge of the students’ individual and/or classroom instruction at the elementary level and is consistent with the goals and mission of the UAIC Schoolwide Action Plan and its governing body.
- Plans and implements engaging physical activities, games, and sports to promote physical fitness and motor skills development and address the grade level standards.
- Demonstrates and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies in formal sports, games, rhythm, and fundamentals of body movement.
- Provides individual and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to the needs of the students with varying abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
- Assesses students’ progress, records their development and progress, and maintains appropriate documentation that is communicated to parents at each grading period and in cases of unsatisfactory work or other instructional issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, including courses needed to meet credential requirements and student teaching classroom experience.
- Valid Teaching Credential.
- Three years of experience in education.
