P.E. Teacher and Coach

St. Bernard’s School is a K-9 independent boys’ school founded in 1904. The school, located on the Upper East Side, serves a diverse community of approximately 365 students and 100 employees.

Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver age-appropriate physical education lessons to students in kindergarten through ninth grade.
• Establish and cultivate self-confidence in boys and their athletic ability.
• Facilitate team sports and fitness activities.
• Promote a culture of physical wellness and healthy lifestyle choices.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to parents and school administration.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to remain current in physical education trends and practices.
• Serve as coach for athletic teams as needed.
• Ability and willingness to cover classes and other supervisory periods when needed.
• Participate in the life of the school community through activities such as supervising a student's lunch table, attending school assemblies, etc.
• Communicate respectfully, effectively, and consistently with students and parents as needed.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree is required; studies in physical education or related fields are considered a plus.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certified.
• 5-7 years of experience coaching at the K-9 level.
