Description
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in the area of instructional responsibility.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
- Valid Alabama Driver's License.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives and student outcome.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Plan class activities and lesson presentations that are age-appropriate for the class and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all students.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems.
- Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities as required or assigned.
- Communicate to students and parents (either in writing or verbally) the instructional expectations, student progress or lack of progress.
- Ensure confidentiality of all students' records, grades, performance and all other related matters.
- Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.
- Establish and maintain a professional level of rapport with other teachers, team leaders, department heads, district-level coordinators and/or program directors, and instructional support and service employees of the school district.
