The Eastern NC School for the Deaf will offer a SIGN ON BONUS of up to $7500 to Highly Qualified candidates. Highly Qualified is defined as having obtained a NC DPI Certified Teaching license in Physical Educator AND Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
The Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf (ENCSD), located in Wilson, North Carolina provides specialized instruction for deaf, hard of hearing, and deaf-blind students. ENCSD was founded in 1964 and serves the 54 easternmost counties in North Carolina. As a part of the NC Department of Public Instruction's Education Services for the Deaf and Blind; the mission is to provide individualized comprehensive educational, vocational, and residential programs for deaf, hard of hearing, and deaf-blind students leading to productive, independent, and successful lives. Are you a deaf and hard of hearing teacher who has a passion for improving the lives of children? Our school is actively recruiting for a School Educator II, working title: High School Math Teacher. This is a projected vacancy for the 2019-2020 School Year.
This is a 10-month position that follows the ENCSD Academic/Instructional period calendar. The primary purpose of this position is to provide academic instruction for middle and high school students who are deaf and hard of hearing in their primary mode of communication within a residential education setting in Physical Education. This position serves as the school’s Athletic Director and is responsible for providing direction and coordination of all athletic events and physical education programs.

Applicants must have or be eligible to obtain a NC Dept of Public Instruction Certified Teaching license in the area of Physical Education and Deaf\Hard of Hearing. Hold a valid CPR/First Aid card and have or be eligible to obtain a CDL license. Management will give preference to licensed teachers who already possess the ability to use American Sign Language.
