Description
Performance Scientist will work cohesively as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, specifically collaborating with the Director of Sports Performance and Science, Director of Sports Medicine, Rehabilitation Coordinator, and the Sports Performance Dietician to maximize player health and availability. They will focus on the implementation of processes to enhance physical preparation using objective analysis rooted in scientific principles, both during field based activities and in gym settings.
Essential Functions:
- Manage and maintain Stat Sports GPS and First Beat heart rate equipment.
- Implement, analyze, and report collected GPS & Heart Rate data to aid in planning the training process for both injury prevention and performance optimization.
- Live monitor players during team training sessions and rehabilitation sessions using GPS and heart rate monitors, providing feedback to players and necessary staff.
- Lead the collection and analysis of jump assessments, and both single joint & multi-joint isometric strength tests utilizing Hawkin Dynamics force plates and Tru Strength dynamometry units, and VALD Nord board.
- Assist in improving current data collection and reporting structures and processes in the athlete management system (Apollo), to aid in more precise communication, collaborating with necessary stakeholders.
- Continuously monitor players through physiological testing, analyzing data and implementing new strategies as needed.
- Aid second team and academy staff with the implementation of performance testing protocols and data collection processes.
Skills and Experience:
- Currently holds or is working towards becoming a Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS) through the NSCA.
- Master’s degree in strength and conditioning, sport science, or a related field.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (by American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or equivalent)
- A minimum of (2) two years full-time experience at the Professional Level or (3) three years at the NCAA level as a performance scientist / sports performance coach.
