Physical Education and Health Teacher

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To provide an instructional program for students that will develop their knowledge and skills in Physical Education and develop needed student awareness of the values of leading a healthy and productive life.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

• Develops and implements an instructional program consistent with the goals of the district.
• Demonstrates a knowledge, understanding and application of the Physical Education Program in the curriculum.
• Organizes and supervises the School Safety Patrol (Elementary School only).
• Contributes to the implementation of a sequential K-12 Physical Education program.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plans and organizes classroom activities that will promote good sportsmanship as well as enhance student self-image.
• Selects activities, which integrates the roles of competition, and fair play that will enhance student ability to cope with real life situations.
• Encourages students to work to the best of their ability and take pride in their accomplishments.
• Employs a variety of teaching techniques through the use of instructional materials, equipment, and audiovisual aids.
• Uses community resources where applicable and available.
• Prepares and maintains written plans to meet the individual needs and creative abilities of the students.
• Helps to insure that students’ meet necessary requirements of the Physical Education program, i.e. proper dress, class participation, etc.
