Description
The successful candidate will support the district mission by developing confident and self-reliant lifelong learners in Sports Development, Weight Training, and Introduction to Leadership classes at La Center High School.
Essential Functions:
- Plan and implement a program of study to follow state and district standards that meet the individual needs and abilities of students by providing effective differentiated instruction using research-based practices.
- Annually establish student growth goals and develop strategies to ensure student growth.
- Implement instructional methods and materials that are identified best practices for achieving stated objectives for instruction and student success, including the use of technology.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of student outcomes.
- Collaborate with other staff to cooperatively plan, develop, and implement a course of instruction designed to meet the needs of students in all curriculum areas.
- Educate special needs students within the regular classroom environment in collaboration with other staff.
- Create a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning for all students.
- Collaborate with other staff to cooperatively develop effective, positive approaches for improving student behavior.
- Fulfill district, state and federal testing requirements.
- Provide positive support and guidance to a diverse population.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of current trends in education including curriculum and instructional practices, subject matter content, and the effective use of data to modify instruction and improve student learning.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully employ effective teaching methods.
- Willingness and ability to attend ongoing professional development activities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a diverse population of staff, students, families, and community members while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor and supporting an atmosphere of warmth, cooperation and service to others.
- Demonstrated ability to treat all staff, students, parents, and community members with dignity.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students and staff.
- Strong self-initiative with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
