Description
This position is scheduled to begin August 2023. This Mesa Community College (MCC) faculty position is primarily focused on teaching a range of academic courses in the disciplines of exercise science, health science, and physical education at the MCC Southern and Dobson campus.
Essential Functions:
- Instructs students in in-person, synchronous and asynchronous online learning, and/or hybrid formats and assesses student learning; facilitates and instructs a diverse student population in both classroom and laboratory settings; develops course syllabi, course outlines, and course materials; prepares and evaluates authentic formative and summative assessments; monitors student course performance
- Pursues curriculum development and associated in-person, synchronous and asynchronous online learning, and/or hybrid format development
- Contributes to the academic mission and strategic priorities of the college and district through active, collaborative engagement in department, college, and / or district committees and related initiatives; involves a department service commitment that includes student success and retention efforts, potential curriculum/ course development, program review, cross-disciplinary collaboration, high school outreach, community partnerships, and related activities
- Pursues continuous professional development both within the academic discipline and in the practice of teaching and learning; commits to continuous professional development and improvement through consistent attendance at and participation in both discipline-specific and teaching/ learning conferences, courses, seminars, department initiatives, and/ or workshops.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Human Movement, Exercise and Wellness, Sport Science and Performance Programming, or Clinical Exercise Science.
- Two (2) or more years classroom teaching experience in higher education (community college preferred).
- Two (2) or more years teaching experience in academic courses in Exercise Science, Fitness and Wellness, Human Movement, Kinesiology, Clinical Exercise Science, Sport Science and Performance Programming, Strength and Conditioning, or Health and Wellness or a combination of the specified disciplines (a broad range of academic courses within these areas preferred).
- Demonstrated experience incorporating a variety of active teaching and learning techniques designed to create an authentic learning environment and foster knowledge transfer.
- Demonstrated experience incorporating a variety of inclusive teaching and learning techniques designed to fully engage all students in the teaching and learning endeavor.
