Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilizes developmental teaching methods in physical and motor fitness, fundamental motor skills, and skills in individual sports and other activities, as well as group sports and games.
- Collaborates with and coaches support staff within the classroom setting, maintaining routines , and lessons for all students.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills.
- Adheres to all pertinent timeline dates, procedures, necessary paperwork, and case management duties.
- Utilizes de-escalation strategies (Safety Care Curriculum) with students as needed to assist in emotional and behavioral regulation of students in need and promptly reports all incidents of behavioral escalation to the school team.
Qualifications:
- Must have a valid teaching certificate issued by the Rhode Island Department of Education.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Capability of responding simultaneously to a variety of needs for students and staff while maintaining a high degree of sensitivity to individual needs.
- Ability to interact with students, staff and members of the community in a pleasing and positive manner. Ability to effectively handle issues utilizing excellent problem solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize the needs and requests of students and staff within the school setting and respond in a professional and efficient manner.
