Description
Vance County High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Physical Education (PE) and Health Teacher to promote the physical and emotional well-being of students. The ideal candidate will develop and deliver engaging lessons that teach students the value of physical fitness, healthy living, and personal wellness. You will be responsible for planning physical activities, fostering teamwork, and providing a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging PE and health curricula in alignment with North Carolina state standards.
- Teach a range of PE activities that promote physical fitness, including sports, strength training, and cardiovascular exercises.
- Deliver health education on topics such as nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention, and human development.
- Monitor student progress in both physical fitness and health education, and provide constructive feedback.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during physical activities, maintaining a safe space for all students.
- Evaluate student performance through written assignments, fitness assessments, and participation in activities.
- Support students with diverse abilities and needs, adapting lessons to meet individual goals.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate health and wellness into the broader school curriculum.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.
- North Carolina Teaching License in PE/Health or eligibility for certification.
- Experience teaching PE/Health at the high school level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physical fitness, health, and wellness concepts.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to develop lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
