Description
The Elementary PE Teacher designs and delivers standards‑aligned physical education classes for kindergarten through grade five, promotes school‑wide fitness initiatives, and collaborates with classroom teachers to integrate movement into the broader curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan & Teach engaging daily lessons that develop motor skills, physical fitness, sportsmanship, and social‑emotional growth.
- Differentiate Instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English language learners and students with disabilities.
- Assess & Report student progress using a variety of formative and summative tools; communicate results clearly to families.
- Safety & Management: Maintain a positive, orderly, and safe gym/playground environment; enforce all safety protocols.
- Whole‑School Wellness: Coordinate annual Field Day, after‑school intramurals, and wellness challenges; serve on the Health & Safety Committee.
- Professional Growth: Participate in weekly coaching, data meetings, and professional development; model growth mindset for students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field.
- Massachusetts DESE license in Physical Education (PreK–8) or eligibility to obtain by August 2025.
- Demonstrated success working with elementary‑age children in urban or diverse settings.
- CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).
