Physical Education Teacher

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and implement lessons based on school and state standards.
• Monitor student achievement through data collection, observation, and other quantitative methods. Observe and record student progress daily.
• Manage student behavior through individualized motivational systems and positive behavior support plans.
• Cultivate student awareness and ownership of personal performance.
• Work with members of the recreation therapy department and education department to plan instructional goals, objectives and methods.
• Demonstrate the use of proven, research based strategies for effective classroom management, active student engagement and instructional delivery.
• Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, individual and team sports, health education and individual fitness goals for students.

Qualifications:

• Must have a current teaching certificate.
• Prior experience working with students with behavioral health challenges within a school setting is highly desirable.
• Must be able communicate with all levels of staff and outside stakeholders in a positive manner via written, telephone, email and other methods.
• Must be proficient is use of computers.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
